Chris Hinds
A Leader Who Fights for a Stronger, More Inclusive Denver.

Rooted in Community
Chris Hinds was raised to believe in the power of community and the importance of advocating for what’s right. Growing up poor, Chris experienced firsthand the challenges that too many Denver residents still face today — affordable housing, accessible transit, and feeling like their voice matters in the decisions shaping their neighborhoods.

Turning Adversity Into Advocacy
In 2008, Chris was in a life-changing crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Instead of retreating, he leaned in. He became an advocate for people with disabilities, pushing for stronger civil rights protections, accessible infrastructure, and better representation in public spaces and political leadership. Chris knows what it’s like to face barriers — not just physical ones, but institutional ones too. That’s why he’s committed to breaking them down.

Why Chris Rolled for Office
Chris didn't seek office to become a politician. He 'rolled for office' (he can't move his legs at all, so there's no running involved) because he saw a system that wasn't listening to everyday people — especially those living with disabilities, seniors, renters, and working families. With a background in policy and lived experience that's too often missing in the halls of power, Chris brings a voice grounded in equity, accountability, and action. He made history as the first elected official in Denver's history who uses a wheelchair, but his mission has always been bigger than that: ensuring everyone has a seat at the table.

Fighting for a More Inclusive Denver
As a City Councilmember, Chris has worked to make Denver more livable, affordable, and just. From championing affordable housing and accessible transportation to pushing for stronger tenant protections and smart development, he focuses on the issues that matter most to real people. Chris believes that government should work for everyone, not just the powerful few—and he’s proud to lead with transparency, empathy, and results.
